I have been using a Canon underwater housing with with my P/S A640, using the YS-25 with Sea and Sea arm assembly. I want to upgrade to the G9 and add an Inon D-2000, using the YS-25 and D-2000 together
I am dealing with 2 issues where I hope more experienced people can help me out.
Can I use the Sea and Sea base and add ULCS ultralight ball/arm assembly for adding the D-2000? Is there a better way to connect the D-2000 to the S&S base?
For exposure control, the D-2000 will send out a pre-flash to match the camera with subsequent flash calculations in the camera. During the main flash, the YS-25 will flash and limit light output based on its settings, which is controlled by the f-stop selection dial. Will I have overexposure problems with this setup? Since the camera will not expect the YS-25 flash, I am wondering if there will be too much flash from the D-2000. I usually shoot in aperture priority mode.
Anyone come to any revelations on getting wider than 35mm eq. from the Canon G9 housing? I have read the threads here of those frustrated with the Canon housing. The Ikelite housing solves the issue but is considerably more $$, as you all know.
I had considered using the YS-110 but several threads here were not satisfied with the results of that strobe. Have those issues been resolved and that becoming the better option? I like the D-2000 since it can limit the camera’s flash output, allowing faster recycling, which the YS-110 does not appear to offer.
If anyone knows other issues I have not considered, suggestions are welcome.
