problem with the VR 105mm manual focus gear form Sea&Sea

  1. Hi,

I have a problem with my Sea&Sea 105mm VR zoom gear.

the problem is, that it is not tide enough on the nikon 105mm VR lens, if it is in the DX D200 housing and I start moving the housing up and down, the zoom gear slips out of the manual focus mechanism.

I fixed it now by taping my lens with a smal pice of electrcal isolation tape. the focus gear is now tide and is not slipping out of the housing mechanism anymore.

    My questions:

    1. Has anybody experienced the same problems? and if, what solution did you find?

    2. does Sea&Sea knows the problem? and if, do they offer a solution for it?

cause it can not be, that you buy an original part and it is not working properly. thats my opinion about it

thanks guys for your feedback and help.

    Hi Nedip-

Each SEA&SEA zoom/focus gear comes with rubber shims installed and additional shims for proper micro-adjustment if necessary. If the gear is properly installed, the fit should be snug and not require any additional modification. We recommend contacting your local retailer where you purchased your products or distributor if you need more detailed information.

    Hi,

first thank a lot for the feedback.

I have already istalled those rubber shims, but the problem still is existent. so i contacted my local retailer and they are now in contact with Sea&Sea Japan, I am waiting no for the answer of them.

for me it seems that the splices for the o-rings are about a millimiter too deep, so the o-ring has not the porper effect to grip up the focus gear properly on the lens or the o-rings are a tiny bit too smal.

thank you anyway for your feedback.

    best wishes
