Canon 5D, Inon z240 and Sea&Sea ttl-converter - does it work?
7 posts
Hi,
I was wondering if there are anyone who has any pos/neg experience regarding the use of Inon z240s with the sea&sea converter on a D5. Does the ttl work? A friend of mine is contemplating this setup.
All help greatly appreciated!
Best wishes,
Espen
Espen,
Here is what I learned last few days. 5d in S&S hsing(1 6pin cnnter+1 5pin cnntr)+S&S ettl cnvtr + Z240 works fine however, S&S 5d housing is obsolete & hard to find.
As ettl requires 6pins, only other way to have ettl is have S6 connector + heinrich ettl converter (either internal or external) + z240 strobe.

Thanks Sam!
I was told that a Nexus housing with a custom s6 would be optainable. The s6 installed it would be ok to use it with the ettl converter and z240. My major concern is the compatibility canon-sea&sea converter - z240. If that gives good results I'll let my friend know its dependable?
Best wishes,
Espen :-)
I use the Sea and Sea converter II with an S6 bulkhead installed in my Subal housing. It works very well with the 5D but I did find that I had to set +1 stop of flash compensation. But since the flash compensation required does not vary, the converter is dependable.
Cheers

What strobes were you using? Did you set the +1 flashexposure on the converter or in camera?
Thanks James!

YS30's or Ikelite DS51's. I set the exposure comp on the converter and tried it and I set the exposure comp on the camera and tested it - same results.
I have some Inon Z220's I can test too.
Cheers

Wow,
Not surprized that the ys30's worked, but I'm a bit puzzled the ikes worked. Thought they only worked with the ike housing electronics?
If you could try out the z220 that would be great. If they work the z240's should too.
