Green Video

  1. I have an HC3 in a Gates Housing with a Fathom lens. When I take scenes with "some" green content the camera seems to add a whole lot more green. To the point of awful. I connected the camera to a Panasonic HD plasma through HDMI and that is what I see but only in some scenes. I connected the camera to a Sony Pro monitor through a Sony HD-15 deck and S-video and see the same thing. The part I cannot understand is that the footage appears correct in the camera fold out screen. Could I have done something in setup? I am awaiting my Final Cut upgrade so I cannot yet import into the computer via Firewire which should be the same as what I see in the fold out screen?

  2. Andrei, are you seeing it in the viewfinder? The LCD monitor tend to decent but not that accurate.

As for your problem it seems you either have it set to HDV-DV downconvert output or your monitor settings are over saturated. I'd wait till you get the clip into the computer to worry.

  3. I haven't looked through the viewfinder yet. I abet iot looks the same though. It seems that the camera is adding green when exporting video via HDMI or Firewire?

The best way to check is the scope in fcp.

Were you shooting in auto white balance with a filter?

if you're only getting that behavior intermittently then it must be a setting problem. Would help if you gave us the settings.

  5. Has anybody had the green video issue with other than a gates housing?

  6. What do you mean exactly Andrei? "Washed out" greenish monochrome footage? Or green frames?

You've brought this issue up several times without followup. You will need to be much more specific in your camera settings, conditions, and yet better screen shots, if you want us to help you troubleshoot.

There are many reasons why clips can be green, from firewire problems to bad WB sensors to bad settings.

I've merged your older threads together so you get a better idea of the issue affecting you.
