I heard a rumor that Olympus have no plan for housings self-manufacture because they can't solve the problem on development. They commissioned to other companies, Nexus, UN, develop housings for their camera.

Hello Yoko,
Great job of coverage at the Marine Diving Fair.
Regarding the UN housing for the E-510, does UN sell in the U.S. or do they intend on getting this housing to the U.S.?
This housing appears to use the same main controls, shutter, zoom/focus, on/off-mode dial, command dials, the same port mount and the same gears as the Olympus DSLR housings. It also appears to have two Olympus sync ports and fiber optic ports as well. Should fit well between the Nexus E-3 housing and the Olympus branded polycarbonate DSLR housings which all use the same ports.

I emailed Olympus Support last week asking about housings for the 410, 420, and 510. Below is the reply I received today.
"Thank you for your inquiry. Currently there are no plans to offer underwater housings for the E-420 or the E-510. At this time it does not appear that we will make additional housings for the E-410."
Hi Phil,
UN doesn't have dealers in the U.S. but you can buy UN housing direct from UN.
Thanks for the info. The housing looks pretty cast style to me. Lots of round shapes. Are you sure it's machined aluminium? The fact that they use all standard add-ons fits it well in the line of the other Olympus housings. A disadvantage ist that you've got to replace the bulkheads to connect to a decent strobe (or at least use an adapter cable).

Hi Helge,
One of the upsides to this housing is that it can be used with dual Inon Z-240, D2000 & D2000s strobes using fiber optic cables without a need for conversion circuitry. I have been using this system with the Olympus E-410 housing and the Nexus E-3 housing with excellent TTL results in macro. These strobes are better than decent.
Like all housings, if you want to hard wire a strobe you will need some type of conversion circuitry and an Athena makes a dual strobe converter which works well with the Nikonos talk strobes and the Olympus bulkhead connector.
