    OHH! Damn you got in before Apple stepped in.

    Seriously I want a review of some kind. I want to buy one.

  3. Err that's IF it comes. The net is rife with rumors of it being a sham.

  4. I think if you buy software you should have a right to use it on any system, player or whatever.

    It's yours...you brought it.

    They did it with their itunes songs that only would only play on their ipods...that soon got cracked anyhow. :blink:

    They are trying it with their iphones as well but looks like that is not going to work in AUS.

    Imagine if you brought say a music CD and it only worked on certain brand of player.

    Or a car but you could only fill it up a BP gas stations.

    Or a camera but it would only work in one type of housing.

    Not that I would want to have a MAC system anyhow. :rolleyes:

    Too right. It pisses me off that I can't play my copy of God of War III on my XBox. I mean, it's my software, I bought it. Now that you mention it, I was never able to run Photoshop CS3 on my Amiga!!!. And don't even start me on the total waste of money that Edius was, I can't even get it to run on my SGI Onyx, and I should be able to, it's video editing software and the Onyx is a video editing work station, you'd think it would work out of the box !1!

    <snip>

    I knew there was a reason my 1100 songs in iTunes never worked. I don't have an iPod; no wonder... you're right, that was a total waste of money. I should have bought some of Microsoft's Plays For Sure songs, they would have worked on my Microsoft Zune...

    Like my copy of Talledega Nights that only plays in a Toshiba HD-DVD player that they don't make any more. I bought it, why doesn't it play in my PS-3 like my copy of Spiderman 3? They are both High Def discs, they both have 1080p video and 7.1 sound tracks, they're both about 5 inches in diameter, they look pretty much the same.

    You know, the more I think about it the more I agree with you Wagsy, I reckon it's a total rip-off the way my Prius doesn't run well on biodiesel and I can't mount my canon 600mm f4 on a Hasseblad, they're both cameras after all.

    Yeah, Multiplexed Analog Component video sucks, you're better off with HDMI. Just remember to specify the Media Access Control address of your PC's ethernet card in the router so you can stream the video from your Macintosh.

    By the way, how's that DVD project you're making in Zinc 3 coming along. Good thing it's cross platform and can make interactive DVD's that work on computers and standalone players.

    Just havin a lend of ya mate!

    :rolleyes:

    {if you want to run Mac OS X buy a mac ya cheap SOB's}

  6. Wow sarcasm is really a trait of the brits... especially the convict ones who absconded to some island :rolleyes: Oh and murdered 90% of the indigenous people too....hmmm

    Ugh! Now there is a name I wish you hadn't brought up. I was having a perfectly good day till I was reminded of SGI. Seriously everyone, if you think dealing with Apple and all there proprietary closed book guano is so bad then you really need to spend a year with SGI. You'll come back swearing that Steve Jobs is right up there with Linus Torvalds.

    In 1999 I spent a small fortune on a SGI 320 Visual workstation running Windows NT. In 2000 Windows2000 came out so SGI released a PROM to so we could update to the new version of windows. Then they promptly announced that they were abandoning support for the system. That's kind of like if Apple announced that they were abandoning support for power PC last year. Sorry guys, no leopard for you PPC guys! Time to buy a new machine! What's that? Your G5 is only a year old? Too bad, sooo sad!

    And as far as prices go, have you ever compare apples to apples? Say a Dell Precision to a Mac Pro? The mac really isn't that expensive. Hell, SGI wanted to sell us a used Octane2 to get us by till we had finished porting our software to Linux.... 12000US for a used Octane2 (2x400Mhz MIPS comparable to a Pentium 3 system) and that was in 2005. Ouch! OK... enough ranting about SGI.

    As for running OSX on vanilla flavored hardware; there's nothing new about that. I think the hackers had developer versions of OSX up and running on unauthorized machines before apple had released Intel hardware themselves. You can do it yourself if you have enough time and love to tinker but I wouldn't ever expect a smooth, stable and up to date machine. You'll be forever applying patches, dealing with mysterious crashes and phantom glitches.

    That's my 2 cents worth.

  8. I've never had a problem paying a little more for my Macs. Sure saved me a lot of time and money in the long run when things just work, rarely needing tech support or technical people who have made their living off me getting my PC to work and sort out all the incompatible components, getting OS upgrades to work etc. But that's just me, always ready to pay a little more for the easy life. :rolleyes:

  9. Well guys you certainly cracked me up reading those comments...well done :):D

    Might add that Zinc 3 is a pile of trash...you have to get in there and change all your links to outside files one by one before you compile... I will have hundreds to change once I have made and tested the program in FLASH.

  10. CNET News says they are real.

    And Psystar has their online store up again.

    CNET did not say they were real any more than the company itself says it is real. It noted they changed their address 4 times in one week. Not exactly the hallmark of a legitimate business. But, time will tell.
