Goby laying eggs?

4 posts
  1. Hi!

While shooting gobys on this wire coral I spotted one that was really small compared to the others I've seen on the same spot. And this little one was swimming in nearly the same pattern, as like wanting to return again and again to the same spot while maintaing nearly the same distance from the coral. And reviewing the pictures on the camera back I saw something coming out...is it possible that I found a goby in the process of laying her eggs? Don't they lay their eggs while resting on the coral?

Or is it just...eeeh, anyway, I would be much happier with the first version :)

not the best of pictures, there was quite a current and stuff was really small...

    thanks for the help,

    zook

  2. Hi Zook,

My guess is that you've made a UFO sighting ... Unidentified Fecal Ooze

At least it doesn't make sense to me to deposit eggs right over a set of of hungry polyps and you don't mention anything about a male being around to do his thing.

I'd be happy to be wrong though

  3. Hi Bart,

what a disgusting little fellow I've met then...in front of hungry mouths, come on...these fish must have really no sense of style :)
