D200 Battery Life

  1. About how many shots can I expect to get out of a fresh D200 battery? Can I use the EN-EL4a vs std EN-EL3e?

  2. I've done 280 W/A shots on one in a day. It depends how much zooming you are doing; a 105 macro will draw it down faster than a W/A lens. Do a day of shooting ane see what the camera reading is at the day end.

  3. I get about 200 shots when shooting underwater (but i normally change it before I start a dive if it is less that half charge, so it rarely gets completely dead).

  4. Yeah, I reckon 250 shots.

The EN-EL4 battery is for the D2/D3 series so sadly won't fit in the D200 which uses the same battery as the D300.

  5. I've not even drained my d200 battery - used with the w/a Tokina 10-17 - after 480 RAW shots. And this was many times, shooting the Tokina in pretty cool 68 to 72 degree water around the manatee (I don't know if that water temp is cool enough to effect battery life, but it certainly isn't 80+ degree tropical water for sure).

I suspect some of the batteries were better than others. I think there was some issue with that; and possibly an issue with the d200 displaying low battery charge but the battery not really being low?

But yes I have seen less battery life with the 105vr. But I still have gotten over 400 shots with the 105vr and still had the battery register additional charge.

Hope this info helps, Carol ;)
