  1. just amazing the number of things that one can overlook setting up their camera...

    1. be sure to put the manual/auto focus switch (on the lens) in auto

    2. be sure to put the camera M/S/C switch in something other than M - ikelite housing has a control to change that setting but with a wide angle lens one may not even realize the pics are out of focus until viewing them on a large computer screen

    3. be sure strobes (ikelite DS125s) are set to TTL and that the slave if used is pointed the right direction

    4. be sure to the oring is in place between the the battery pack and the strobe head - lost a battery pack but not the strobe head - good job ikelite ;)

    5. be sure that your lenses work - turns out the aperature on my 20mm was not changing (stuck wide open - result of a previous camera flood?)

so maybe 8 out of 29 dives i got like NO good pics at all...the newer 105mm nikon macro really seemed harder to control on the d300 vs the d50 i had used previously. Single servo AF caused me to miss a couple more shots...and then all the normal problems of trying to properly light wide angle shots...

well, anyway the pics - on my pc at home:

while i am a bit disappointed i think i'll reserve any real judgement until after a second trip with this thing :o

I gave up being a professional photographer. It was making too neurotic.

So I took up diving and writing and became an underwater photographer. Neurotic? Who? Me? Welcome to the wonderful world of where if it can go wrong, it will! If it's any consolation, we've all been there, and booked a return trip too!

    U can add:

    6. be sure to take off the lens cap.... :o

    7. be sure to put right in ttl connector on the flash sabot

    8. and of course, before we switch to digital....be sure to put a film in the camera (do you remember: film was a sort of memory card but for only 36 pics!!) ;)

  4. ....be sure to put a film in the camera (do you remember: film was a sort of memory card but for only 36 pics!!) :guiness:
