  2. Hi Kent,

First remove the rubber cap as it can cause a problem in closing the housing correctly.

Second no diopter is required for the 14 to 42 zoom if it is used with the correct port, flat or dome style, Ike recommend the 6" 5503.55 dome. The shade should NOT affect the image quality.

Keep working at it, you won't learn any new system in thirty images.

allso its hard to see if the camera has focus on a object

You may want to also try a focus light to see if that helps. Is the camera working properly outside of the water in terms of quality? I had a camera that was out of spec and everything was soft but was quickly corrected by the manufacturer

  6. Hi Kent,

I used the E-410 with the Olympus housing which has a decent pickup finder V. the cost of the housing. I can't speak for Iklite as I have never used their housings.

The viewfinder is small but no more so than for the other cameras in the same price range. I don't have the greatest vision but I was still able to focus and frame the subject without a problem in average light. A focus light is a help and the superb 50 macro is an F/2 lens which will AF better in low light.

I would use the camera in the housing out of the water to be sure you have the build in diopter in the proper place for your eyes and the housing diopter. The little dial on the top left of the viewfinder.

Again, any system takes time to learn.
