Using Nikon 12-24 lens in Subal D200 housing

  1. Do I use a diopter for this lens in this housing? If so is it +2 Or +4

    Thanks,

    terry

  2. I use mine with a +4 and sometimes a +3. Theoretically a +2 is more suited to a Subal FE2 dome, but I have found that the +4 works best for me because I use a shorter than theoretically optimal port extension. I shot the 12-24mm once without any dioptre and it worked, but the corner sharpness was very poor by comparison.

  3. yes you probably should. diopter power is determined by the size of your dome port. I believe an 8"/20cm port is optimized with a +3.

the quality of your diopter is very important. dual element diopters are better, but there are few. I use the canon 500D which i think is a +2, with my 8"/20cm dome. its optical quality is excellent.

  5. Thanks for all the help. I do use a FE2 port and the 50mm ext ring

  6. Hi Terry, the +2 should work.

  7. I concur the +2 and 50mm extension should give sharp images and good corners.
