  1. Hi guys

This is the first image I have posted for a wetpix critique so it will be interesting to hear what you all have to say. I have a fairly thick skin so i can handle contructive criticism and I want to learn more, but Id also like to know if you like any bits and pieces of the shot.

    Cheers

  2. I love the color, the white rhinophores kind of get lost in the background because it is so light in some areas... maybe a stop higher to get those into focus? I like the position of the nudi in the photo too...

    Awesome shot!

  3. I like the colors too. The focus issue does not bother me as my eye is drawn to the nice sharp area. I think this really is an image that could benefit from burning in the background a little - in my opinion a very legitimate use of Photoshop. I would like to see a little more space on the left so there is not the slight crop of the animal.

  4. and an interesting first image it is! i have never got a shot of one of these guys that i like. Looks like there is two of them there, two sets of rhinophores. Great use of the rule of thirds, getting that main rhino in the bottom right third and a diagonal across the image. I actually would have prefered a vertical composition of this, more natural looking i would think. But i always say that.. haha

I agree about the background, it is a touch bright. but not easy to control that for sure, i often have trouble with that against a coral background which you have here. but good use of the DOF to isolate it against a blurred background.

    nice effort
