The wrass is an Oriental Wrasse Oxycheilins rhodochrous
Not sure on the goby or goatfish

Thanks William
The lack of any body stripes put me off an Oriental Wrasse. I was more favouring Oxycheilinus digrammus - Linedcheeked Wrasse as it has the diagonal lines and other head markings shown in Humann's Tropical Pacific book. I must admit the body shape seems to indicate Oriental. I know wrasse vary a heck of a lot, paricularly due to age and sex changes and I often find it difficult to pin them down. Any second thoughts?

I think the goby is Amblyeleotris fontanesii...

Many thanks, Vie. Not in any of my books but having looked it up on Google, I'm sure you are right. Great stuff - have you got a good book for identifying gobies? They really are the most difficult of beasts! I see it is on Goby Frontiers web site but I missed it.

Haven't found a good book either - there are simply too many goby varieties!
