Nexus service/upgrade

9 posts
  1. I just got an early model Nexus d200 housing. It did not come with a manual. I would like to get a manual and have it serviced and possibly upgraded before I put a camera in it. I've been searching the web, and have not had much luck. Help from a nexus owner who has had a housing serviced and/or upgraded in the last year would be a great help. If there is any place online, or if someone has a PDF file of the nexus d200 manual, could they send me the link or the file? My email address is: mitchmberger@msn.com.

    Thanks

  2. Hi,

When you say'upgrade', Can you tell what you are expecting ? There was no upgrade I am aware of since I had VERY early (s/n:00002) d200 housing & one of latest one now.

    There are many shops in US handles Nexus housing (--> sponcers in right side);

    Marine Camera Distributors

    Reef Photo

    Backscatter

    sells & services Nexus housing.

  3. Sam,

After a while, nexus started putting two additional ports on the front half of the housing. Maybe mine was a custom job, but there are also no control buttons on the back.

    Mitch,

Re 2 ports in front housing, Are you refering to 2 optical ports in the picture (picture from Nexusamerica.com) ?

That is for optical port to connect with Inon Z-240 through optical cable and is NOT upgradeable if you don't have

    one already.

Re control buttons in backplate, it sound like you need new back plate with control & I think

you can buy them with $$$ & replace by yourself too.

I have a Japanese manual but, does not show part numbers or anything useful.

Yes, I think the question of upgrade depends on whether the holes for the ports were cast as part of the housing or drilled afterwards - my guess is they were drilled afterward - which means there is at least a

slim possibility for an upgrade - from a good machine shop or by the manufacturer.

Yes, but the backplate is not the kind of part that dealers carry, that would have to be obtained from the manufacturer. When I had to have my Ikelite housing serviced, I sent it to ikelite, the same was true when I had a problem with an Olympus flash housing (they're not very sturdy) I sent it back to olympus. I would prefer to send my Nexus housing to Nexus - just call me superstitious. While I have found the Japanese language website for nexus - with a Japanese address and phone #'s I could not find an e-mail address for the company. Thanks for the info, is there an e-mail address on that manual?

    Mitch,

I checked my manual & I cannot find e-mail address in there. I think you still have to find a dealer

& ask them to help you to send it to Nexus.

When I was needed new backplate for my Nexus F100 camera (they were selling 2-3 different type

of backplates back than), I purchased it through a dealer & new backplate for dslr should be available

to dealers too. Nexus/Anthis in not 'direct contact with customer' oriented company as far as I know.

  7. Sam,

Can you tell me which dealer you used?

    Thanks

  8. PS: The only serial numbers I could find in the housing were etched into the inside of the housing - is that where yours are? (the front half has a difdferent number than the back).

    Thanks
