Autofocus and "doubler" lens attachments

2 posts
  1. I have a new Canon G9 point-and-shoot camera and Ikelite housing/strobe. I purchased an INON doubler external lens attachement to attach to the housing, but the autofocus no longer works with this setup.

    Any suggestions?

    Thx!

(PS Using "manual focus" with this camera is quite cumbersome and not a realistic option.)

    Hi razorrob

i use a similar housing setup with a nikon P&s camera . what i do is for 1 ad on lense zoom about 1/3 for 2 ad on lenses zoom in 2/3 . using external lense (im assuming your using the ucl 165 m67) will limit your focal point and reduce your depth of field.

when shooting i find the subject , zoom in a bit , then rock the camera in and out untill the subject is clear in your screen THEN i prefocus then i shoot . if you attempt to focus when the subject is not in the focol sweet spot the camera will hunt for foocus and not auto focus properly .

hope this helps . it probally sounds like a long winded process , but once you get the hang of it it only takes a few seconds

    Regards

    Matt
