Which Strobe?

  1. Hi,

I've for a Sea and Sea DX-1G and am looking to add a strobe to my set-up but I don't know which to go for. Should I stick with Sea and Sea, will they synch in better with my camera, or should I get something else?

    Thanks,

I have a hunch that's your best bet. Your housing has two optical ports that probably* work best with the "ends" of the S&S optical cords. I'm sure you could make others work, but another advantage is that the a strobe like the S&S YS-110 would give you good "TTL" capability underwater. Since both the camera and the strobe are S&S, they are designed to work together and tested by S&S. While in theory the YS-110 is supposed to work with any compact that does TTL with its own flash, I've heard the "optical" TTL really works best when you use the YS-110 with a S&S camera.

What I can tell you for certain is that I've owned and continue to use Sea & Sea strobes and I love them. My current setup has a YS-110 and a YS-27dx ... I use them manually with my Canon G9 in an Ikelite housing.
