Temperate photos from Victoria, Australia

  1. Hey Wetpixelators,

    I dive in Victoria, Australia.

Victoria is a place that few divers ever add to their "must dive list."

In fact, I don't think any one ever has?

Its not that Victoria doesn't have great diving but rather that it has terrible PR.

Yet Victoria is home to unique and diverse marine life that inhabitat some spectacular ecosystems.

Here is a selection of images (my portfolio) that I feel best represents the marine life found in Victoria's cold water.

  2. Some lovely shots particularly the seal and the blue eyed fish. A pleasure to view.

Can I ask whether you have photoshop'd the blue eye in? I was trying to see a reflection of a diver.

  3. Some great images and subjects. Nicely captured.

  4. Thanks guys,

DDT- it hasn't been photoshoped in and yes you can see my reflection which is pretty cool!

  5. Hey Cal

Be cool to do a dive with you sometime. Message me. Victoria does have some great diving. I think plenty of "wreck heads" probably have the j class subs on their must dive list.

  6. Great shots! Victoria (the other one) looks right up my alley and a tad warmer to boot!

    Cheers,

    Marli

  7. Very nice work! I especially like the shot of the Fur Seal and the Zooanthids. Cold water holds a special place in my heart and as a result, I haven't had much desire to visit the Barrier Reef. But I do have a friend in Tasmania so maybe a trip to the south coast is just what the doctor ordered.

    Cheers,

    Mike

  8. I love the image with the leafy sea dragon and the diver swimming parallel to each other with the sun rays shining down!! Is the leafy sea dragon carrying eggs?

  9. I like the kelp forest shot...

  10. great work Cal. Shots #2,3,4 are stunning. reminds of the diving back home here in southern california. Thanks alot for posting

  11. Bloody Nice photos - lovely!

I do envy you chaps that get to dive with acres of viz - I only wish we had the same in the UK.

  12. Thanks for the overwhelming response guys!

    I really appreciate it :D

AMW: It certainly does have eggs but its a weedy sea dragon, not a leafy. The weedy is not quite as..... spectacular but its still incredible to see.

Timing: acres of viz? Not in Victoria :D its normally around 5m but we do get periods where its 15m once in a while.

    Cheers,
