If you must have TTL then the ikelite is the only choice for sync fired strobes.
if you are happy with Sttl or manual settings then the INon strobes are very good and many people are using them .
to me the inon strobes win out because of their compact ness wide variety of settings , and ability to take $$ batteries , they also have a built in focus / aiming light whoch is very good .
Regards
Matt
I'm with Matt on the INON strobes. Z-240's are the mutts nuts and will stay with you should you ever upgrade to a DSLR. Fibre optics and STTL works just fine. The only downside to fitting INON fibre optics to the Ike housings is the attachment of the 'cap set' to the housing's flash diffuser. That arrangement is a flimsy buggers muddle just waiting to break. I recommend that you create a more durable solution like I did with my custom mask.
Nothing wrong with Ikelite or INON, but I use Sea & Sea.
While not compatible with the ikelite TTL circuitry, the YS-110 can be manually fired via electronic sync cord - which has two advantages ... saves camera battery by not firing internal camera flash & keeps heat down inside the housing. YS-110 can also "carry-over" nicely to a DSLR rig and take regular AA batteries.

Hi - I use an inon D2000 strobe with a compact olympus camera at the moment - strobe is excellent and hit as loads of settings which allow to photograph various settings when lots or little of flash is needed..
I am thinking of upgrading my camera to a G9. How do you find using it with the ikelite housing - do all the camera functions work and can you use all the camera's manual functions with ease in the housing?
Any advise anyone? Cheers, Carina
Hi,
hope this is in the right thread...
I'm also trying to find the most suitable strobe for a canon G9 in ikelite housing.
After using a freinds camera last year i've decided to buy my own gear but am running out of £££!!
I want to use the inon UWL-100, should i be only considering strobes with an angle greater than 100 degrees?
If so this obviously rules out the DS-51, what about if i had 2 (eventually!), i would have thought the angle would not be enough in both planes, am i right?
I've read mixed reveiws of the YS-110, it has a much wider angle, does anyone know if it will TTL through an ikelite converter?
Finally, I have a divemaster job lined up for this summer which could envolve photographing bubblemakers in a pool - I know, not my preferred subject! But its a chance to get to grips with the new gear, and maybe pay for some of it. Any ideas if you can shoot reasonable shots in a pool with no strobe?
thanks,
si
If you want to get TTL with an Inon strobe and Ikelite you can install the Heinrich Weikamp convertor though this would involve a bit of handywork..
