Canon A570is versus A710is please help a noob

  1. Hi

I was all set to put in my order for a Canon A570 is, with the Canon housing and the Inon d2000 strobe; but then I noticed the A710is. It looks like the camera and housing are about the same cost as the 570.

Is there any reason not to go with the 710? It has more resolution, and since the are both "A" series they share manual control.

Both Canon housings I would think would use the Inon lens adapters (wide angle and close up) but correct me if this is not right.

thanks in advance for your help.

First, if your getting a 570 and DC-12 housing you better hurry before they are gone. The 710--you mean 720? No, they do not use the same Inon adapters, only the 570 is supported, the 720 is not because it has to long of a zoom and as a result has a square port housing that cannot accept Inon AD adapters.

    Thank you,

Yes, that is the combo I was planning to buy

Now, I've got my credit card out and getting ready for Looe Key

    thanks

    Love the shot...

Do you have any set-up tricks you can share with me?

  4. I highly recommend the 570IS and Inon lenses and strobe. I am getting results right out of the box that took me years to achieve with much more expenisve Nikons equipments. Of course, I do have that prior experience but I find this an excellent little camera to play with. If your looking to be a pro it might not be your choice but for fun snaps I really like my set up.

I have a few issues I am working through, lens flare from the silver beauty ring is one, a few bubbles got trapped once, once I foegot to load new batteries and had to open my housing in humid warm air, a slight, slight fog of the port resulted. Otherwise, it is just a matter of learning what it can and cannot do--like anything.

I do recommend using a Sekonic Marine meter especially if shooting in the manual mode.
