I wonder how negative it is in the water? I bet you will need floatation arms.

My D200 was so negative I went to the D2Xs

Housings only. The D300 is a lot lighter than the D2X as well.

The D300 is almost the same as the D200 so should have similar buoyancy. I find that the D2X with the big dome can have too much buoyancy.

I got the new housing because of the weight and bulk of the D2X and housing in travel and carrying around on land. If they made it I would get a digital Nikonos. Even the D300 and housing seem too heavy to me.
