USVI. Heading to St John in Feb 2009

  1. We are heading to St John for 10 days in Feb 2009.

    Planning on taking a G9 with Z-240...maybe a second Z-240 by then.

Have the place to stay already lined up...staying within reasonable (not next door) walking distance to the boat docks near 'town' and the ferry to St Thomas.

Looking for information/suggestions about diving/dive companies and what sites we should visit.

The dive companies I have found so far have no gear storage on site.

Worth a day trip to the British side at Virgin Gorda?

any comments and information is welcome.

  2. The Wreck of the Rhone (off Salt Island south of Tortola) is in the BVI and a great dive ... my favorite in that neck of the woods.

It is kind of a pain to get there from the USVI with passport control and whatnot.

I've dove a bunch off both Virgin Gorda and St. John's. I have found the BVI "better", but not by that much.

In the BVI, I love "Dive BVI" - great operator.

  3. Hmmm, water around St. John is very shallow. There is no good diving theer. In BVI thereis some decent diving, including the Rhone, But if you want do the good stuff, get on the ferry or seaplane to St. Croix...
