HK whale shark

  1. Check out this article on a whale shark found off Hong Kong waters. Some fisherman caught it and later released it but the whale shark did not survive. ...really sad news. :)

    What's amusing about this is the Hong Kong government's Leisure and Cultural Services Department closed beaches off the south coast of Hong Kong (ie., near Lamma Island) because of this "shark!!!!" :D

    real sad... got the link from our local dive club...

     

    the pathetic part is the local authorities raised the "Shark Warning" flag on local beaches because of this... amazing...

    Hey, I dive in those waters :D ... <twitch... twitch... scratch... scratch..>

     

    edit: well there is some positive in this sad story... according to the blog, a local had paid the fisherman, who had been draggin the poor thing around, HK20,000 (USD2,500) to release the poor thing. No idea how it would have fetched in the local shark fin markets...
