Let's charter a liveaboard to dive Raja Ampat for a month...

Hi, I'm wondering if there are 4 people here who may be interested in getting a liveaboard in Raja Ampat, Indonesia for a month?? I'm thinking sometime Oct 08 - March 09 - but this Oct/Nov preferably.

I'm just a guy who wants to go sailing/diving for a month in Indonesia (not a travel agent etc.), but I don't want to charter a boat by myself...

Cost would be about $5k each all in - boat (nice 25m Phinisi), crew, fuel, food etc. for one month.

$3500+ for 10 days is going rate for the better operators in the area, but most are booked up this year already.

If enough people are interested, we could split a spot, and do two weeks $2500, or one month $5k.

Um, getting back to the topic of the post about a small group doing a liveaboard charter in RA - but not paying $370/day... There are a number of boats that may be available through songlinecruises.com, but it would be useful to get more info on possibilities, so if anyone has specific suggestions on the topic they'd be most welcome! Thanks!

As far as I know there are no decent boats available in Indo Oct-Nov this year, especially available for a whole month. Indo is really busy right now and the best marketed boats are all super busy nearly 2 years in advance now!

Be careful if you want to book a boat for one month, esepcially a boat that may not have a whole lot of experience in Indo - this may not be such a cool idea!

There are a few new boats, though I'm sure they don't the area well enough to take out a bunch of super keen photographers. OK, maybe you're into adventure, if that is the case I'm sure you'll love your experience regardless!

I'd highly suggest planning with a bit more advance notice so you can get yourself a decent boat that knows the area well, especially for shooters!
