How long is the PT10 Life?

2 posts
  1. How long my PT10 will last with only the basic maintenance of change the main O ring each year?

Can we do something else than the O ring change?

How can I detect, previously any flooding, that a new housing is necessary?

My current has 18 month and more or less 60 dives with always fresh water 30 minutes after the dive. In my dive conditions is not possible to clean it before (too many people in a zodiac boat )

    Thanks

  2. One diver I know has hundreds of dives on his PT-005 housing with minimal maintenance (just lubes the O-ring when necessary).

After several years of useage, he finally broke the shutter release lever. I think this was due to clipping it off to his BC, a practice which I discourage because then the housing gets knocked around and scratched up.

Fresh water rinse, work all the buttons and levers in the rinse tank. Dry thoroughly out of the sun.

For zodiak dives, can you bring your own portable soft cooler filled with fresh water? This will also help it from getting knocked around.

Lube the O-ring when it needs it, not every dive. Check religiously for any sort of dirt/debris/hair/lint that would cause a flood.

And, for that one brief moment of carelessness or disaster, buy insurance!
