thought I'd share this news. 9 of my images have been used to decorate the forward stair hall of the Cruise ship MV Norwegian Gem . The images have been blown up to nearly 4 metres by around 2.5 metres and printed on aluminium panels coated in varnish. They'll be on display until the ship is refurbished in 10 years time. The fleet belonging to Norwegian Cruise Lines have used photographers from different genres to decorate each of their ships. Steve Blooms wildlife images decorated the MV Norwegian Pearl and Ernst Haas's estates images were used on the Norwegian Jewel. 7 of the 9 shots were taken on film, the other 2 on a D2X.
Here are a few images....
thanks for looking
Steve
Congratulations, Steve! The images look amazing. Great company to be involved with (Bloom/Haas) - Hope you get a chance to see the prints in person.

Thanks a lot Bryce. I've long admired Bloom and Haas's work, so it feels very special to get a display like this.

Huge Congratulations Steve. Would you mind sharing a little about what was involved in blowing up the images to that size? I'm fascinated to know how easy or difficult it was for the digital images vs. the film. How do they compare in your eyes?
Steve
Wow, Steve. They look fanatastic that big. Great stuff. Do email Brian at BSoUP so that he can put the news on the BSoUP Website too.
Cool. I hope you got a free trip out of it

Hi Steve,
I didn't get any access to the process involved in blowing these up unfortunately - I just delivered the slides and TIF files from the digital camera, and the art repro company did the rest. The comment back from the project manager was that the D2X files were a lot easier to work with than than the slides. I believe they drumscanned the slides. These JPEGS are all I've seen of the final images, and I can't really tell from them which ones have reproduced best. Of the ones displayed above, the second one down is from the digital camera, the rest are film (Velvia 50 or 100)
Cheers

All the time you have invested in this industry makes this a very nice complement to your work. Excellent and congrats.

Congratulations Steve!
it must be very satisfying to get to do that kind of exhibition with so many people and to see your images in that size
