  1. Sunburst is a bit hot for me, but I have received some positive comments about the dreamy light in this shot.

  4. Thanks guys

here is another one from the same day showing off the colours a bit better and it has eggs on the tail! Bit of a strange square crop on this one (cropped down from portait). Im not sure if it works but it gets you closer to the action

  5. Steve ,

Good work - I would love to see these guys but I'm afraid of the cold.

I always prefer the front 3/4 view rather than the rear ( coming rather than going ) as I find it more engaging. - perhaps you could work on that area next time your on a dragon hunt.

    Hi Peter

You need a thick skin and a thicker wetsuit on these dragon hunts. Its a good tip you gave about setting up the shot to focus on the front half of the animal. I agree and will work on it! On this dive, I was fairly happy to get these guys in focus and correctly exposed. Im still struggling a little bit with the wide angle stuff.

    Cheers

    Steve

PS: I will be in Cairns on 13th August. Heading out with Mike Ball on the 14th, but there will probably a good opportunity for you to sell me something!

You can always come to Sydney in Summer to see them. Water temperature of 22ºC is not cold at all.

  9. I saw them in Sydney last Dec. I had a 5mm and a 3/5 hooded vest underneath. I got chilled at about 40 minutes. My buddy, on a rebreather, said we were going to dive for 90 minutes!!! I was almost glad our vis sucked so we could surface sooner.

Ah, yes, that is December. Water temperatures in Sydney are 1-2 months behind the seasons. But still, it is usually greater than 18ºC in December. Water temperatures in February and March are quite pleasant. For this year, I recorded:

    03 Feb - 22.5ºC

    10 Feb - 21.8ºC

    02 Mar - 20.3ºC

    09 Mar - 21.7ºC

    16 Mar - 20.4ºC

  11. Well, when I go back, I am bringing a 7mm or I may even have a drysuit by then. I don't know how my buds did it in 3mms. I get cold in a 5mm in 80 degree water. That's about 26.5.

  12. In a little over a month I will be diving the GBR and Coral Sea in a 3mm suit. The water temperature will be 23-24ºC (73-75ºF) and a 3mm is plenty warm enough (for me).

  13. Brrrr.
