  1. So, last week was my first time using a DSLR underwater. I have to say I'm pretty darned happy with my new setup - Nikon D70s /Ike housing/8" Dome/Sigma 17-70mm/Flat port/Nikon 60mm Macro/single DS-125.

I already had the D70s, and after reading the article "TTL in 2007" on UWPMAG by Alex Mustard, I was convinced this would be a great setup -- thanks Alex! Also props to Dave Harasti and Peter Rowlands on their review of the D80 which featured the 8" dome and Sigma lens - these guys write great stuff and everything they said was exactly what I experienced.

Anyway, I learned a lot in the past week and can't wait for the next trip -- by that time I'll have a second DS-125 and good W/A lens.

    thanks for looking,

    -- John

  2. Good selection of images, thanks for sharing.

  3. Hey john,

I'm quite at the same point as you : starting on SLR with a D70, Ikelite, single strobe DS125 and regular 18-70mm Nikkor DX. Though I have the 6" dome...

I think you did some great shot here, nice work !

Should you be interested to look at mine, I'm building my web site at www.thenrard.net

The web site is just a temporary one (under construction), so not very user friendly I'm afraid.

I think the best shot there is the spanish danser.

Please let me know what you think of them !

    Cheers from Belgium !

Nice photos Thierry! Sharm El Nagra... is that the Red Sea? Looks like great diving.

I like the 8" dome for my 17-70mm, but I'm really looking forward to getting either the Tokina 10-14mm or Nikon 12-24mm W/A and more flash power. Having used a Oly 5060 for the past 4 years, I am loving the quick shutter response and RAW image control.

    take care,

    John

  5. Red Sea Egypt it is !

Hotel, not flooded by tourists, but quite old (you don't even have TV or telephone in the rooms !), but it is clean and beds are good. Food was good as well.

We were only 15 persons in the hotel, which has a full bay !

Diving centre very good, always helping you and at your diposal.

The beach is "flooded" by tourists who come for a day snorkeling (who cares as you are under water). But from 16.00 they are all gone, and you have the full beach only for you...

A very nice place (for divers only) who don't look for luxury hotel...
