  1. Shot on an oil rig in the Mississippi Canyon off of the Louisiana coast. This rig sits in ~3000 feet of water (see correction below), ninety miles out of Port Fourchon.

Even though I've been diving for over fifteen years, this was only my third attempt at underwater photography so any critiques and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

  2. Hi David, welcome to Wetpixel. Cool shot. I didn't think there were any fixed platforms in 3,000ft of water. The deepest fixed platforms are at 1,500 ft, then everything else is floating.

    Was this MC386?

    Cheers

  3. James,,,,I don't have the rig number handy but you are correct on the depth. We dove this rig on the way out to fish at the Marco Polo rig. It's about 25 miles north of Marco Polo which puts it on the edge of the canyon and in the fixed platform depths. Thanks for the feedback,,,,,,David

  4. Cool. I've been working out at Shenzi. It's the new platform 6 miles south of Marco Polo.

I caught a blackfin there on the first (and only) cast the other day.

    Cheers

  5. Nice barracuda, David. Looks like you have the magic touch!

  6. Thats a great effort for your third go at UW photography!

  7. Hi David,

Man, I love your topside images. Your macro, scenics etc are all outstanding... To me they look NatGeo quality. Do you sell your work?

For underwater images, simply keep shooting, I look forward to seeing your underwater shots progress to the same standard as your other images!

  8. By the way, it looks like you've got a very eclectic bunch of buddies there! One diver is wearing his Levi's and a shirt, these another with a leopard pattern suit - awesome! I reckon you guys must have lots of fun...
