Finally, I've taken my first consumer grade underwater video setup into the open water recently.
I'm making the leap from shooting FILM slides using a Nikonos III or Nikon F2 in an Oceanic housing to this HDV Video setup. Lets just say its been a whole new learning curve. Especially the post production steps.
Here's a sample of my first crude video posted on the web:
Shot on a Sony HC7, in the Gates HC7/9 housing and using the Fathom WP25 port. I used the Sunray 1000 LED lights. Overall I am pleased with all the equipment, but what do I know.
Now be kind with your comments you "pros".. as this is my first attempt at this... ![]()
The water here was not the best conditions for filming, er shooting, er capturing... Visibility was under 15 feet, some currents, cold water temps. The usual stuff.
I need to work more on exposure control, and of course controlling housing movement. And I've discovered that I need to order a perscription mask to better see the viewscreen. I guess I'm getting old...
I cant wait to get this rig to Bloody Bay Wall in the Caymans this fall!
