Is anyone having trouble with setting the tele macro on the Sony HC7 camera? I just recently dove in Roatan at Cocoview resort and I could not get the telemacro feature to set. When I used the external Ikelite wide angle lens I could get it to set everytime. I was only able to get it to lock in only once without the external lens. I know you do not want to use the feature with the wide angle lens on but I was trying anything to see if it would work. When I state I could not get it to work I mean I could not get the orange bar to lock. Other than this problem the camera worked very well. I thought I would not like the Ikelite housing because of the slide bars and its difficulty to use at first, but however I have learned to use the controls very well and can access everything I need quickly. I took Tim Blantons video class and he was perplexed over the telemacro feature not working as well. He was playing with his wifes HC9 in a Gates housing and no trouble at all. The telemacro would set everytime above water in the housing. I also read the manual and it states that the telemacro will not work when "scene selection" was used which it was not. I have two and tried both and had the same problems with both of them.
Any help with this problem would greatly be appreciated!

I was able to use it with both the Fathom wide angle and Gates flat ports in the Gates HC7 housing. The focal length was around 1 meter, from what I remember. That being said, I thought that feature was just about useless without a tripod and crystal clear water. I think the problem may be be the port on the ikelite housing and the distance between the camera lens and the port on the housing.

Thanks for the input. Because it did work with the external lens I thought that maybe the port on the housing was causing the problem.
Alas, I have found the error of my ways. My trouble with telemacro was operator error. @ depth if I had made any adjustments to the wide angle/zoom button, the knob would stay up against the wide angle/zoom and not alllow it to move, thus, not allowing the telemacro feature to work.
Ah hah! Now, to plan another trip to play around with the feature you couldn't in Roatan! My last tropical trip was Cayman Brac over 1 year ago. The HC7 was brand new to me at that point, hadn't even got it wet yet (impulse purchase since my HD10 crapped out the day before the trip - now repaired, anyone want to buy an HD10 with housing? ) Anyway, I was bummed because I got there and realized that the sony memory sticks I brought in anticipation of using with the camera in still mode were not compatable with the memory stick duo port on the camera. I also didn't know how the dial set worked completely on the camera. Long story short, I need to get back to the tropics with all my newfound knowledge! (45 days to Wakatobi!!!!)
