Leslie and all, I need help on this one....

I photographed this invertebrate on Caulerpa sertularioides in a tidal lagoon in West Palm Beach, Florida. The animal was about 6mm in length and the depth was about 10 feet. Can you tell me what it is?

    Thanks, Anne

  2. Hi Anne - It's always good to hear from you! I suspect this is a closed up anemone so only the outside of the body is showing. Take another look through Humann & Deloach - maybe some of their pics show stalks.

  3. It looks like some kind of actinarian or actinodiscus to me - aka mushroom anemone.

  4. Do you think it a closed actinarian or could it be a corallimorph James? There's an unidentified corallimorph in H&DL which also has radiating lines of white papillae on the disc.

  5. corallimorph sounds good to me actually.
