  1. From this weekend off of the Louisiana coast. The surge from wave action made holding position a challenge, but I'm fairly pleased with the composition. Critiques and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Sea & Sea DX-1G, 1/640 sec, f16, iso 100, twin strobes. 75% of original frame

  2. Hi Dave, Cool blennies, You might think about cropping out some of the less exciting background at the top, Just for fun, something like this; post-4526-1217195096_thumb.jpg

I'd also play with rotating the image clockwise to try and get the beautiful little guy on the left more into the frame. Where did you find these little guys?

    Steve

  3. Steve,,,,,,thanks for the feedback and the crop suggestions. I wish I'd left more room on the left to begin with, but the surface surge was giving me hell.

This was out of Port Fourchon, LA on the GI 130 platform. I was on a safety stop at around the 25 foot level for this shot.

    Thanks again,,,,,David

  4. What a lovely shot! Thanks for posting.

  5. Another Tesselated Bleeny among the anemones.

  6. They are both excellent shots. I like the first one best. I like Steve's suggestion on cropping it, too.

  7. What a great opportunity, and you nailed it. Nicely done!

  8. It's not easy shooting in surge hey!

I personally prefer to see these little critters on their own. I find that sometimes having two animals in the frame actually detracts from the final image. Though it's a gorgeous fish, I'd love to try shooting this beaut myself!

  9. nice photos. The life looks exactly like the life on our oil rigs here at 25ft, except for the blennies.

  10. Nice.

I would try to isolate them a bit more from the background. It's a very 'busy' image like this, hard to get attention on the blennies.
