    OH sorry, i'm using s&s mdx-d300, the focus gear #31129 s&s also.

  4. OK, finish

  5. I keep a bag of thin rubber bands in my dive camera gear......at times, I have used them to provide extra grip if there is slight slip between the focus gear and the lens.....

Some people use silicone inserts too if not using the proper focus gear for the job.

I have the Athena port and the Athena focus gear for the 105 VR. IT's smaller and lighter with screw threads up front for the Inon Wet diopter. However, the focus gear is a real pain to install....I have to remove about 7-8 screws all around the gearing, remove the teeth, slot the gear over and the replace the ring with the gear teeth on the other side of the lens...then screw everything back.
