Inon viewfinder on Subal

  1. Does anyone have experience fitting an Inon straight viewfinder on a Subal housing?

Also, what are your thoughts regarding the straight vs. 45 degree finder?

  2. Hey Eric

I don't have an Inon viewfinder but I use the new Subal 45 degree viewfinder on my housing for the D300. Love it! There was discussion here some weeks ago on the pros and cons of 180 degree view versus 45 degree. 45 was seen as ideal for macro and low down shooting. Some thought 45 was tough for following larger fish in mid-water. I can appreciate this view - during the first dozen dives I had with my system I did find tracking a little harder. But I've found, like most things, the more you practise, the luckier you get at being able to do it.

For the type of pictures I do, the 45 is ideal. But if you specialise in big fish you might find a 180 easier to use. But then you are going to be grubbing around for those low-level shots..... ^_^

  3. Peter Rowlands has an Inon 45 degree on his Subal. Works well.

Viewfinders are really a personal thing. Many with 45 degree ones swear by them. Never got on with them myself, but never used one long enough to get used to it.
