  1. Hi,

Can anyone help with the id for this? Spotted by my DM as we were doing a safety stop at 5m. Seen at Tulamben, Bali.

It was about 10cm long. It swam by wriggling its body like a snake would on land. So the curves of its body actually shows how it was moving in the water. It was definitely moving, not suspended in mid-water. Had to fin to keep up with it, and I could hardly see it on my LCD as I tried to photograph it.

  2. Yeah, these are so cool hey!!!

As far as I know it's a sort of ctenophore, pardon my spelling, it may be wrong as right now don't have any ID books with me...

There are a whole different range of these wierd and wonderful animals out there, once you start to look off reef in some places you can see a whole new world open up to you!

The problem with these is that they are often found when there is quite a lot of other particulate in the water, which as you see makes for really difficult shooting!

  3. Venus's girdle (Cestum veneris)

  4. Graham, Jim,

Thanks for the help with the id. There's so much to see and learn about the underwater world, what fellow critters we share this earth with ^_^
