I just received my 8" dome with the super wide angle extension. Problem is, I can't figure the best way to attach it. When the extension is attached to the dome, I can't get to the port latches to slide them forward. If I attach the extension and then screw the dome on, I will have trouble lining up the hood properly and still get a good seat. Any hints on this??
Thanks in advance.
Doesn't the super-wide body go on with the locks already extended? Instructions should have been included with the unit. p.g 10 I believe:
I have played with a dome on an Ikelite only a couple of times.
With the dome off of the housing, I moved one of the latches closed (the upper one I believe) and then angled the dome under the closed latch. Then I pushed the dome down on the side of the other latch, and was able to get the other latch closed. It was really was easy using this method.
Good luck. Hope this helps.
Close both latches before inserting the dome, then rotate the dome to secure it.
You need to check that you have the low profile latches fitted which are usually shipped with the dome.

Paul has that right. Replace the latches that were on the housing with the ones that came with the dome. There is no "wiggling" over/under latches. The only thing the directions didn't tell me were to make sure one of my knob/levers wasn't pointed out to block the dome....
Alison,
I have been using the 8 inch dome for two years now without a problem. As mentioned above replace existing latches with low profile latches and lock them in place before fitting the port. I have placed a sticker on the back of my port so know when it is fully locked - and can also check that it hasn't moved before I get in the water (not that this has been a problem). Have fun with the new toy.

The dome rotates onto the housing with teh latcehs already locked. So make sure sure you have the low profile latches, lock them, Gently rotate the dome onto the housing after lining up the locking threads.
Many folks also add a piece of tape at the top of the dome once it is locked, to indicate the locked position, this allows you to visually check it hasn't started to rotate out of the locked position once you're got it all setup.
