Raw image question - canon G9

3 posts
  1. I am new to RAW files on my Canon G9 and apparently doing something wrong. I could use some help.

I am taking RAW+JPEG pics, or so the camera settings tell me.

When I look at the card using a card reader designed for that card, I find only the .JPG files.

I am using a Lexar pro 4 gb, 133x card and the card reader that was supplied with the card.. all in the same pkg.. connected into Windows XP on a Dell computer.

I was under the impression I should find some .CRW files. Is that correct?

From what I am seeing on the card, there is no difference between having the camera set at RAW + JPG and JPG only.

    Any thoughts?

    thanks,

    Dave

  2. It sounds like you have made the setting change to simultaneously record JPEG with RAW, but haven't actually set it to record RAW.

Page 81 of the manual shows you both these steps.

Note you can't set RAW in Auto mode, it's only available in P, AV, Tv and Manual modes.

Then you should find some .CR2 files

I had it set in once place but not the other. that took care of it.

I figured it was somthing simple on my part.

    thanks,

    Dave
