Canon 5D and Ikelite Housing

  1. Hi Guys, I have had a look through the forum here and have noticed that several of you use the above combo.

As I am new to U/W photography I am ken to know how you guys with the cameras rate them both in functionality and image quality. I have a Canon A640 and housing that I bought last year for a fun holiday with some friends but I am a bit of a pixel chimper and the pics weren't as good as the 1Ds MkII and 1DMkII n cameras I usually use (funnily enough) :chatterbox: ).

I dont fancy the expense of putting the 1Ds II in a housing but B&H seem to have a good deal on their 5D and Ike at the moment so I am really tempted to jump for that, especially as the £ is quite strong against the $ for the moment.

The other camera that might be of interest is the 40D as it produces a decent image. Would any of you recommend one over the other? I don't have any flashes etc yet but have the feeling that I will spend the next few years working in order to feed the new habit.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Tristan

  2. I sent you a private message.

  3. Does anyone have any preference between the 5D and 40D as a camera for use underwater. I have found that Marine visions are doing a package deal on the following for $3700. They are also doing the same for the 5D for about $50 more

    Ikelite 40D camera housing (#6870.40)

2 DS125 Ikelite Strobes with dual sync cord

    2 -Smart Chargers

    4 Ultralight 8" Buoyancy Arms

    6 Ultralight AC-CSF Clamps

    2 Ultralight BA-IK base adapters

    2 Ultralight AD-125 Strobe adapters

**Order this kit with at least one port and you will also receive an Ikelite Photo Pelican case, Free. note: If the Ikelite 8" Dome is selected above, we will include a Pelican 1620 case instead of the Ikelite Case. This will ensure that everything fits in the case correctly.

    Thanks for your thoughts.
