Maldives Octopus

  1. Hi All,

Had a nice night dive with this very small octopus the other day. About 3 centimetres across!

This fella was happily bouncing around on the reef and into the blue.

    Any comments are welcome!

    Enjoy,

    Adam

  2. Hi Adam,

i have seen this one as well in Maldives a couple of times – but i don't know its name.

My guess is, that it is just the juvenile of the common reef octo we see in maldives normally.

    greets, serge

  3. Yeah, I agree with you Serge. I reckon it is a juvenile version of the common octopus we see here.

However I have about 20 other photos with it showing off its array of colour changes and body shapes. Am still not 100% on the species as it is a very 'talented' juvenile octopus! :chatterbox:

  4. He's a handsome fella alright. In shape he looks more like one of the white spotted night octopuses that you get in various species all around the world.

    Very dramatic against the black.

    Alex

  5. Yeap, that photo against black is awesome. He looks like he's putting up his dukes ready to punch!
