Tokina 10 -17 ?

3 posts
  1. i have a cannon 40d which i am going to get a ikelite housing in the next couple of months and am looking at a tonkina 10-17 lens,

the ikelite port chart says you can use a 6 or 8 inch dome ,my question, is there any problems with the smaller 6 inch port with this lens.

eg shadows ,i would rather go with the smaller port if i can (less cost less drag easier to handle )any help would be appreciated:-

  2. Hi Steve,

This has been covered a couple of times in the last few weeks - bottom line go 8" but do a search in the archives for more info.

It is worth the extra drag at the 10mm end.

Friends don't let friends buy the 6" dome. I have found the 6" dome functions poorly from an optical standpoint with anything wider than 24mm.

The biggest drag on a rig is not the dome port. If you only care about drag, don't use strobes.
