G9/Ikelite with Inon Lenses Question

4 posts
  1. Hi, there's a lot of helpful discussion on this forum about using the Canon G9 in the Ikelite housing, but I have a further few questions...

    1. Many people seem to be using the Inon stackable UCL-165 macro lenses, however there's several different choices of this type of lense on the Inon webpage and I'm not sure of the differences... Any help or advice??

    2. If you choose to get the optional Ikelite flat port, do these lenses screw right into this port, or is another base mount or adapter needed?? Does the wide angle lense also work with this port?

Thanks for any help with these issues!

  2. Can't help with #1, but, for your second question...

With the short port, using a supplied tool, you unscrew the longer port that came with the housing, and screw in the shorter port. No adapter, it's a straight replacement. This port is designed to work with a wide angle lens, however, you can't zoom into the full extent.

Hope that's some help! You've got yourself a good setup there!

    Ryan.

Unfortunately, I don't own the Ikelite Housing, so I can't speak to the specific functionality of the use of lenses for it, but it's my understanding, as Ryan indicated, that with the correct port, you can use Inon's close-up lenses, with certain minor zooming restrictions.

I do own the Patima Housing, which comes standard with seperate 67mm lens attachable ports for wide angle and close-up lenses. I usually shoot wide angle with the Inon UWL-100 Wide Angle Lens, but I have gotten some great results using the Inon Close-up Lenses with the long port on my housing.
