Carry case with built in lap top compartment

10 posts
  1. I am looking for a carrying case for my camera and lap top. I think I saw a post or website describing a carrying case or backpack that had a removable or built in compartment for their lap top. Has anyone seen this?

Does anyone carry their camera and laptop together or is everyone using separate cases/bags?

    Thanks,

    Shane

I use this one. Has a lot of room. But i have a compact not quite sure if your stuff will fit in. I think it should.

  3. Check this bag out.

It has enough room for a full SLR rig and your laptop.

I use the Kata OC-84 and can't say enough good things about it. Ryan recommended it and I'm glad I bought it. The laptop fits in easily in a separate compartment (even has it's own bag to carry your laptop), there's room for lots of photo stuff inside the case and it has an Insertrolley which makes it easy to transport. And, it even fits in the the overhead of the airplane.

    It's very well constructed, too.

  4. Hi I use the Lowepro Mini Trecker every week for carry on hand luggage. I manage to get a 1Ds MkII, 1D MkIIn, spare batteries, 24-70mm 70-200mm 580ex charger, spare portable HD and a couple of cleaning bits and pieces in the main body of the bag. the rear compartment fits a Macbook Pro 15" in a Lowepro neoprene protective cover. IF you need more space then Think Tank do a carry on size case with wheels and straps.. THere is also the Lowepro computrecker with wheels that you can get on bard some flights, there is a separate section for a laptop there as well.

    Hope this helps.

  5. I am doing similar shopping.

Lowepro's web site has lots of choices. The vertex 200 AW carries a lot.

There is a new FLipside 400 there as well. It carries nearly as much and is much lighter but you have to take it off to get out items. Safer for some but not what I want.

I am seriously considering the THinktank Acceleration and its on sale on their website now. But that one looks like maybe someone could remove the laptop without your knowing, its a big laptop.

Not certain how much you want to carry or spend but there are some places to research.

  6. lots of choices and possibilities. I used to use a lowepro computrekker plus backpack, but have switched to the thinktank airport international. it has wheels and a removable laptop bag that fits in the outside compartment. It is legal for international travel while the lowepro is a bit oversized. thinktank has a lifetime guarantee on their products.

  7. I just took a Think Tank Urban Disguise 60 on assignment and it was wonderful. I put in two 40D's, a 70-200, Tokina 10-17, Canon 10-22, two Canon Speedlites, remote trigger, 15.4" laptop, external hard drive, cards, batteries and accessories and had room to spare.

I am really impressed with the Think Tank construction.

  8. I just got a Tenba Shootout Backpack (Medium):

So far so good! It has has a removeable laptop section and fits a 17 inch MBP.

Down the center (inside) you can fit two bodies and a 70-200. On each side is room for at least 6 more lenses and big side pockets that give quick access into the main compartment.

The tripod system is nice with different setups for different size tripods. The waist belt is nice and padded and is also removeable.

Inside it now, I have a D700, Canon G9, 70-200, 50, 17-35, 24-120, Canon W/A adapter, two diopoters and a bunch of filters, hoods, chargers, a 15" widescreen laptop and Gitzo 2 series tripod.

I like it. True test comes when I take it hiking in Colorado next weekend.

  9. If you don't mind 'Rollers" I would strongly suggest the thinktank photo line of bags. These are more for extensive gear consignments IMHO. I now have four of these and they have replaced my old Pelicans.

For backpack offerings I have used this from Tamrac for many months and flown through customs etc at all international ports entered. I have even transported a RED One camera and basic production gear. No worries.

    Cheers,

    Mark.
