Focus light slave?

4 posts
  1. Has anyone considered building a ""focus light slave"?

I have a YS110 which has a centered focus light. I believe it is also so clever, it will switch the light on and off as it operates the strobe.

I am a strobe novice, but i tend not to point the strobe right into the motive centre, so a separate focus light that follows the strobes focus light via a slave optical fibre seems like a good idea.

    What do you reckon?

  3. I am not sure that I understood you.

It is probably easier to do it like Fantasea with their Nano Focus Light.

They have a Light sensor in the middle of the Focus Light. It reacts then on the bright light of the Strobe Dump.

I was thinking about doing it myself, but then I found those Focus lights and they are cheap as well. So, I decided that it was less work to buy them.

  4. Hi Oskar

I i´ve just bought the Fantasea Nano Focus Light. And I am very happy with it. It´s not the most powerfull light but it´s very goo for macro shooting.

Here is an idea on how to mount it. It gives greatflexibility and with the light on the side of the Dome it´s easy to aim.

I drilled a 6mm hole in the Arm Stem Mount for the bolt .

I shaped a piece of plastic for mounting the light.
