Digital Contest Display Standards

  1. Hey folks.

I'm not sure where to post this, but I am looking for feedback on Digital Competition Rules and Standards.

We will be hosting an International Competition this fall, and are debating our past handling of digital entries.

Last year, we had entrants send slides from their digital files. It worked great for us, as the viewing standard was the same as for film entries, and it made the intense day of judging go smoothly. The elimination of entries was handled the same as for film - actually, all the workflow for the competition was handled as for film.

The unfortunate thing is that we exclude many entrants due to the technicalities of optaining a slide from their digital files.

    Our options are among these:

    1. use digital projectors. This sounds easy, but we need to determine how to sort entries, how to delete entries, and have to run a separate projector from the film submissions.

    2. use crt screen. This will give a better picture than the still sub par digital projectors, and with 3 judges, it would work.

    3. use the slide entry format, as last year. Having slides makes it easier to showcase the winning entries at the awards night - an important evening for our members and sponsors.

Does anyone have any system/standard that has worked well? Did anyone use PowerPoint, or other slideshow programs, without trouble?

    Thanks for input.
