Calling All Ikelite Users

  1. Hello All,

Having just purchased a D300 it's time house it!

I would like to hear from Ikelite DSLR users regarding their experiences with the Ikelite DSLR systems. I was very pleased with their housing for my G9 though that housing didn't have their funky port system.

My first choice would be the Sea and Sea housing but even that gets quite expensive with all of the additional parts that are needed to complete the system. How about that $650 TTL converter!!!

    Please chime in.

    Thanks,

    Gary

  2. Nothing wrong with Ikelite kit imo. Not the sexiest on the market perhaps but does what it says on the tin. All the controls are functional and easy to use UW, good selection of domes and extensions. What more does a diver need.

I agree with all that, plus they've got great customer support! In my opinion that is as important - and probably more important that the gear itself. I want to deal with a company that can fix a problem if I've got one. I've also been impressed with the Aquatica, although, but I don't have experience with their customer support.

I am a big fan of Ikelite! I have the D300 housing and about all I can say is "It Works". The TTL feature is great and part of the package. You can switch from TTL or Manual with the spin of a dial.

What everyone says about their customer service is true. I don't think I have dealt with any company an any business that tops Ikelite in customer care. A+

You can spend a lot more on an aluminum housing, but it won't take better pictures and it will probably take Months if you need service.

You should invest in some of the Stix floats for your arms. The D300 body is nearly 2 lbs vs the old 1 lbs D70 body, so floats help a lot.

  5. i dive with one for my d200, the ttl is built in you don't need the extra dongle. there has been seven of them in my club, no problems. i like them, cant see why i'd change.
