Sony PMW-EX1

  1. I am proud and excited to be an owner of a brand new Sony PMW-Ex1 which I am going to pick up from my US address when I am there in 10 days (has already been shipped and waiting for me there...). Since I am not a videographer (yet) (I am rather an enthusiast photographer) I think this is going fun with this cam....probably first only topside, friends and family stuff (no professional broadcasting), for which it is probably an overkill, but since I own a full HD home movietheater already, I guess this cam is the right toy... and who knows, loooking into housings for it, I especially like the new and rather compact housing from Sealux. But the serious problem I believe is really how the hell to travel with all this gear, especially if I want to have both, photography and videography for underwater...????

  2. In these days of air travel restrictions, you'd be hard pressed to find an airport that'll allow you to carry a 15kg video housing + accessories AND a DSLR housing plus accessories + cameras (1 video, 1-2 DSLR bodies) and lenses (4-7) and laptop too!

I've recently moved to a smaller video housing and camera to allow me to carry my DSLR setup as cabin luggage so I can still shoot no matter what. More apt is the combo setups like the Nikon D90 and Ikonoskop A-Cam DII, which shoot video as higher quality stills (RAW in the case of the Ikonoskop) :uwphotog:

  3. Right now I am carrying my Gates EX1 and accessories in my backpack and my slr with lenses, chargers, batteries and laptop in my shoulder bag. The combo is super heavy but so far getting by. Adding an underwater kit for the SLR would be beyond imagination at this point for carry on!

I got my Sealux Housing for Ex1 yesterday and also the 120 Degree SWP44C Lense for this Housing. It was the first Lesne was delivered from Sealux.

The Lense, Housing and Camera and a Extrenal Monitor has a weight of 16.5 kg

I´m on the way to Polynesia for Humpack Wales and I carry the Housing in a Shoulder Bag, and the Rest of the Staff is checked in. I packed all in a Peli Case and put this Case again in a Trolley. Laptop ect.. is in my backpack. The was no Problem in Munich, Paris or Los Angeles with thsi Luguage.

About the Housing it makes a good first Impression, some Things what is a little tricky. The Lense is 4.2 kg heavy and is bigger then the Camera Housing front, so the Housing with installed Lense can not stand on the own Body.

When somebody is interested can place more Informations about using this Housing after the Trip.

    Nana and good bye
