  1. WOOHOO. . . .

    Have a look at this beauty will ya. . . . :uwphotog::nea:

    I'm in. . . .

    Here's the link;

    It should just about fit into Ike's G9 housing with a couple of mods. . . . ;)

    Should nearly be in the water by x-mas...geez, lucky me wife has already left. . . . :)

    Remember, I saw it first. . . .

    Bruce...

  2. Its great that they put 28mm at the wide end. I had a G7 and hated it because I couldnt get used to only 35mm :uwphotog:

    Hi "Suzy",

    I think that the G10 is also going to be a pain in the . . . to house.

    It is still advertising a 5X lens, so I think that it will be either, macro or wide-angle choices again. . . . :uwphotog:

    Canon also announced a new underwater housing for the G10, but I will assume that its orientation will be towards the macro end.

    Bruce...

  4. 28mm and the higher res viewscreen will be great, but I was really hoping for two things in the G10 (I have a G9).

    One would be higher res video, and the other one would be TTL flash control while in M mode. Unfortunately, those two features are the same as the G9, so I don't think I'll upgrade...

  5. The downside of the G9 was you could not use the Inon wide angle wet lens like my S80 can. (But no Raw on the S80. ;) )

    If the shorter lens allowed it's use I'd upgrade. I like having a wide angle and macro wet lens to use on the same dive.

  6. Yes it could, so long as it was in the Ike housing, a wet wide angle works well.

  7. I seem to recall that most wet-mount wideangle lenses are designed to work with a camera with an ~35mm field of view. 24mm and 28mm is a bit tricky to get to work without vignetting right?

    Cheers

    James I think you are correct on this. INON does make a wet mount WA specifically for 28mm lenses:

    but it requires their mount base.

    Does anyone know if the canon case for the G10 will be compatible with the inon lenses.

    I already own a UWL-100 28AD Wide Conversion lens and a UCL-165AD lens. Would like to get the G10 and canon housing without buying new lenses.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    This lens requires a AD mount though, so no good for the Ikelite housing when it's released.

    As for the Canon G10 housing, as far as I can see Canon haven't even announced one yet (has anyone else noticed they're not supporting housings for their Powershot range as much these days?). IF they do, guess we'll have to wait and see if it has a round or oval port.

    Ryan.

  11. Ah, I was looking on the Canon AU site. Guess we're a little behind in our little convict settlement out here in the Pacific!

    Looks like it's still got that pesky oval port though.

    Indeed ... and I just noticed that the battery is different than the G9 as well.
