Canon S1X IS 10 megapixel 1080p HD compact camera

While all the attention is being diverted to the Canon 5DMark2, another product that slipped under the radar is the Canon S1X IS. This 10 megapixel CMOS sensored fixed lens camera is the first compact fixed lens camera to shoot 1080p HD at 30fps, just like the 5D Mark 2. It does not use the same 40mb/s bitrate but half at 20mb/s. The video recording limiting is 1 hour or 4GB after which you must start recording again. It has built-in IS and a 28-560 (35mm equiv) lens. It is the first Canon fixed lens camera to use a CMOS sensor. It only shoots jpeg unfortunately. This camera is not available in the US. Probably to protect the small camcorder market of canon.
