WOW check this shot featured in the October 2008 issue on page 119, It's a shot of Mauricio Handler standing a few feet in front of a southern right whale done by Brian Skerry, You know Mauricio is like a brother to me but its still the most awesome shot of a whale interacting with a human that i've seen. I'm sure that his dry suit wasn't that dry when he came up from that one, I would have crap my underwear :) being in such a precarious position :D .

BTW that Biologist Moira Brown (page 110) is my lifetime best friend also, funny thing is I never introduced them to each other, they just bumped into themselves, small world :)

    Cheers

  2. I like the way that he keeps calling Mauricio "my assistant." that just cracks me up! I bet Mauricio has some great pix too - I hope he can share.

    Cheers

  3. I'm not sure what the agreement is, but I believe there would be a moratorium on his images until after X amount of time of the publication of said article, but yeah, he's no klutz with a camera so his reaping would have to be pretty good. As for the "assistant" term I know, I've work as one on a few occasions and the term can come across as demeaning sometime, but working in this context (Nat’geo) it actually has a ring that I could get used to. Hell, they could refer to me in way more vulgar terms and I’d still be smiling given the job. :) , wait a second, I am already refered to in vulgar term by my part time assistant, well that's promising.

Looks like a photshop job to me :) Very intense shot on many levels

  5. Well having talked with Mauricio this morning about this frame, the only photoshop that would be required is to put back his eyebrows in their rightful place, cause they are probably outside his mask skirt on that shot.

  6. Maybe we could change Mauricio's nickname here... :)

  7. WOW!! I thought Mauricio was bigger than that. LOL

Very nice and yes, he can hold his own with a camera.
