Setting Manual White Balance

4 posts
  1. Hi,

I'm getting ready to get in the water with my new Sony HC9, Light & Motion housing and Sunray 1000 LEDS. Can someone help me configure the menu so I can get one touch white balance. I'm not sure if other options need to be turned off so it works correctly. My understanding is I don't need to use the lights and can use ambient light.

    thanks for any tips,

    Cheryl

I have tried to do that with the HC7 in the same housing, and have not figured it out.

  3. Hi

The WB is abit fiddly to get at on those LCD screens while underwater with those camera's.

Get to know how the menu works outside the housing then again once inside the housing.

You sure can get great colour by just using a filter and WB on something down there.

Here is a clip I shot with the SONY A1, (single chip CMOS camera like the HC9)

The water was dirty & green and I only White Balanced on the sand/coral until I got the color I was after.

No colour correction at all was done on the computer, it's as the camera shot it.

If I was you I would do some dives without the lights just to get the hang of the housing and it's controls then move on from that to messing with lights unless is down deep or at night.

    Hello Cheryl,

I have the Sony Hc7 In the same housing and was able to change the camera menu so that I had access to the white balance controls of the camera thru the window of the housing. You can find out how to set up your camera in the manual supplied with your housing. The hc7 set up starts on page 5 and goes thru page 7.Again this the the manual for the housing not the camera.

I hope this helps if not pm me and I will try to walk you thru the process.
